I have a brand new (less than 6 weeks old) siemens KS40U630 fridge freezer that has suddenly developed a loud continuous noise – like a motor / engine running. I also notice that there is a small build up of ice in the freezer( on the top and at the back on the casing where I assume the fan is). The current settings for the fridge and freezer are -20 and -4.

Is this a significant fault or can it be rectified easily?

    Thanks

    hi

the most probable fault would lie with the fan blade hitting this ice build up.

is there any chance that the door has been left slightly open or that the packing peices on the door seal havent been taken off ?

also check that the seal on the door is sealing correctly as if it doesnt then it will allow air into the freezer compartment giving you the same fault.

if the unit has got a build up of ice in the freezer compartment then the only way to clear it is by emptying the freezer and switching the whole appliance off for 24hrs with the freezer door left open.

after 24hrs close the doors and switch back on,if the fault reoccurs then the fault may well be a faulty component to which the manufacurers will need to visit.

    hope this helps
