ParticipantGood morning. This is my first post, just looking for a bit of advice really, Yesterday i was given a Siemens dishwasher, was told it worked fine but hadnt been used in years, upon plugging into mains it would immediately blow the electric at the fusebox, no power to it whatsoever, so i have removed the panel and started at the mains suppressor, it looks to me that its knackered but would like someone who knows about these things to verify and also to point me to the correct replacement part as this seems to be an old discontinued part. I may be wrong. Also, if anybody knows what model the washer is, as i cant see any labels on it anywhere. Heres a picture of the piece with what seems to be gooey residue coming from inside it. Many thanks in advance for the help. Nick.

Hi Nick
If you post up the ENR number and the FD number which will be either etched into the top edge of the door just left of centre or on a label up one one the door edges. We can then look up the parts and advise further.

Thanks Martin & Don, I managede to bypass the offending item and the dishwasher started to work. It got halfway through a cycle, drained, then stopped. The aquastop wasnt letting any water in i have found, i have removed the aquastop and im using the normal hose, now i have 3 small wires down by the water inlet that was connected to the aquastop, they are just hanging there and now the dishwasher is saying “SENSOR” on the display when powering it up, it clicks once or twice then doesnt do anything, the sensor text goes away and it seems dead.
Can anybody advise what i need to do with the aquastop wires or anything else?
Many thanks. Nick.

I don’t know for definite but the chances are the machine is detecting you have disconnected something so unless you reconnect those wires it won’t work

But even when it was connected to the aquastop, and wired up corrrectly with the water hose disconnected from the aquastop block, it was not letting water through, I think when i got it working today, it only ran on the old stagnant water that was already in the unit, then when it drained that out, it wont fill, it didnt do a rinse cycle or anything. So i think the issue is, it wont take in water, both with aquastop connected and disconnected, but the aquastop was closed anyway. Hope im being clear enough, many thanks electrofix.

Thinking of it, the thing is full of water right now and its not doing anything, it does about 3 clicks from the rear at the bottom when selecting a program, flashes “sensor” on the display, then does nothing –
