ParticipantGood afternoon and thanks in advance for any help offered.
I’ve read through similar problem to mine but cannot find the exact same issue.
i have a Siemens HM678G4S6B/35 combination oven/microwave. It’s approx 7 years old. Recently the microwave switches off after a few seconds, but only on the two higher power settings, if you select one of the lower power settings, it runs perfectly. I’ve replaced the Magnetron, nil fix. I can only find a single fuse in the back, back that hasn’t blown.
I have looked at the inverter, but this is expensive to replace and would rather not replace it unless I know it’s the culprit.February 1, 2024 at 9:45 pm #489429electrofix
Moderatordoes sound like it may be the inverter
but
these units use panasonic parts so you can get the inverter a lot cheaper than the £145 siemans wantlook at the inverter and there is a number on it poss starting F606
type that into ebay and there is a good chance you will find something that will do the same job. It will in fact be the identical part but not supplied by siemans
also beware you are dealing with lethal voltages so you have to take suitable precautions
I cant promise a new inverter will cure it but it does sound likely

ParticipantThank you. The part number is F606YBH2. I’ll look around for an alternative part. I’ll ensure I take precautions prior to removal.

ParticipantHi. I replaced the inverter with a “tested” item off eBay. But it was worse than before, this time it shut down immediately I switch in the microwave. I refitted my old unit and the original fault returned. I’ve decided to buy a genuine item from Siemens. It should be delivered this week.

ParticipantUpdate: Brand new inverter from Siemens has fixed the problem. The “tested” item from eBay was also faulty and the seller is refusing to refund my money. Perhaps there’s a lesson for others purchasing “tested” electronics.

Moderatorapproach the payment provider and as they can force refund
goods are clearly faulty as they did not work and the proof is the new part did. You can provide proof as you had a reciept for the new part after the ebay transaction. something you would not have needed to buy if the ebay inverter had worked
