ParticipantHello, I have old dishwasher Siemens SPS 5122. I bought it with the overfill problem (most probably I made mistake, because the problem is not in the door seal gasket, door hinges or door latch). The problem is that the machine starts to fill up with the water and after some time the water overfills through the doors. I have read in http://www.acmehowto.com that the problem could be in float assembly, float switch or in the inlet valve, but anyway, does anybody have same/similar problems with Siemens dishwashers? I also looking for repair and user manuals for this model – is there any possibility to find them? Thanks in advance and regards. Renaldas.

There are no service manuals available. It is a very difficult machine to access and repair. To correct the fault to your machine will require dismantling to some degree especially the water level metering system, therefore I recommend you seek expert help 😉

This is the 45cm dishwasher and fills from a tank on the back of the casing. The single most common cause of the machine not filling correctly is the resin softener unit solidifying over time, and not allowing the tank to empty into the machine in the time allowed (approx three minutes). Remove left hand side panel, identify brown section and tap gently with a screwdriver handle (sometimes repeatedly) while the machine fills. It will eventually break up and allow the water to flow freely.
This one uses a pressure switch for level control on the pre-fill, so the old microswitch set-up is not used on this machine.

Thanks a lot Penquin! The brown section is wet inside therefore I think the screwdriver will not help. I saw that this section is full of white mass (most probably old powder), therefore, I suppose, it is needed to clean it and the problem will be over. Unfortunately the attainability is problematic. Does anybody know any chemicals for dissolving the mass inside the brown section or the only way is mechanical intervention? Regards, Anukelis

If the brown resin is white in colour it is normally an indication that detergent has accidently been put in salt container (quite a common occurance) unfortunately this will not clean out, the complete labyrinth assembly will have to be replaced.
Full model no. (Enr) will be needed to advise on part no. and price.

Thank you for your answer sparkey. Unfortunately I cannot provide the full model number, because the machine is in my parents flat, 60km away from the place I live. I will try to write the full machine model number next week. Regards, Renaldas
