Siemens no fast spin?

Today (darn my luck?) I’ve got a Siemens WXL140GB/01 with a spin problem. I’m pretty sure its the Module as the motor checks out just fine (though I have cleaned it up and changed the brushes of course)? The existing brushes were only half worn down but I put in new anyway as a matter of course. 😉

This baby (with a washload test in) ramps up and spins nicely at 600 rpm, then distribute tumbles and ramps up to around 1000rpm OK still showing 8 mins to go. Then is slows, does a tumble or 2 then stops and goes to ‘0’ mins. 😕

I figure that its the module as the OOB systems seems to work fine? That for some reason the module just won’t kick in to the final few minutes @ 1400rpm. Exactly the same happens when you run it empty too!

Customer did say that the last load she did the machine showed ‘0’ minutes but was still going? Though I cannot figure that one out I’m pretty sure the module is playing silly buggers. But it’s a £115 gamble?? 🙁

One last question? When you set it to ‘Spin only’ should it not spin finally at the speed you set the variable control to (i.e 1400rpm)? Or does it only do a slow spin on this model?

Any further thoughts guys?

As for Spin only, yes it is a reduced spin probably 800 – 900rpm 😕

Whoops Greg, I went to reply (quote) to your post and ended up editing your post by mistake….DOH! 😳

Anyway, my question was (oh and thanks again for the info 😀 ) if you set it for ‘Spin Only’ then select the variable speed controller say to 1400rpm and press start, surely it will then eventually spin@ 1400rpm….won’t it? 😕

IIRC its always a reduced spin on “Spin Only” and obviously at the end of the more delicate washes (regardless of spin speed selection)aswell 😉

You’re right again Greg! 8)

I couldn’t find a user booklet for this model in english but the German user booklet describes the ‘Spin only’ as “reduzierte schleuderdrehzahl” regardless of spin speed setting or as they put it “schleuderdrehzahlwähler”.

I wonder if the Germans ever make spelling mistakes on their forum websites? Could lead to a lot of confusion I would think? :snigger:

Well it turns out I was barking up the wrong tree on this one based on a red herring info from customer about spin speeds. 👿

Anyway it turns out that the problem was the heater in fact :rolls:

No error codes on this machine to alert anyone to that fact so the programme just bumbles along ending with a slow spin irrespective of programme setting.
