Siemens SE24200GB not filling

Doesn’t fill very much and only a small amount of water is pumped around the machine when washing. Not enough for the arms to move.

Have checked inlet hose/filter and also drain hose/pump seems clear. When the machine is filling the inlet valve appears to close abruptly after a couple of seconds, waits a few more and then opens again for a couple of seconds. This repeats until the cycle has moved past the fill stage, but of course there’s not much water actually been allowed in.

Having read about similar problems here, I’ve tried tilting the machine and no water runs out so does that mean there’s no leak?

Was going to remove the panel at the front bottom of the machine but can’t work out how to do it. Have removed two torx screws from either side and the front section slides forward about 3mm and then stops. Can’t see any other fixings.

Can anyone tell me how to get this off and of course, any ideas on the fault itself?

I’m sure someone will give you chapter and verse as to the likely problem and how to access it? I can only comment that it is a water inlet control problem requiring access at the side of the appliance. 😉

Not a DIY job but rather l suggest you contact a local expert to fix it for you (see link below)

That front panel will need detaching from plastic loom protector.
Once gained access and with sump completely drained of water; remove the ribbed hose that goes from metering unit to sump and clean thoroughly.Appliance unplugged of course :plug:

Brilliant ! Hadn’t realised until I got the side off that the unit fills from the sump – thought it came through the inlet half way up the side 🙂

With the help of a torch and mini-drainrodder, managed to get all the way back from the sump to the inlet valve and pulled out some brown goo. Not a lot but it was obviously enough to stop the water flowing fast enough. It now fills properly and the inlet valve only operates once as it should.

Don’t know what I’d do without this site!
