    Hi all,

    Happy new year!

Unfortunately, I seem to have another problem with my (well, the one that was already in the house when we moved in!) Siemens dishwasher which I’m unsure how to fix. I know the area where the leak is coming from as I removed the inspection panel, bailed out the existing water and ran the machine again, but I have little idea how I would go about fixing this or if it is worth it…

I took some pictures, so I hope this helps.

Basically, you can see that part (not sure what its called) is pretty clogged up with limescale and gunk, the water seems to be leaking from around the red cylinder (float valve?). Finding it a bit hard to really see exactly where the leak is coming from but took a video of it if that helps? I assume the whole part should be replaced.

I took the drain pipe out and gave that a good clean and everything else looks ok.

Any tips on where the leak might be coming from? A common point perhaps?

    Cheers,
    Jas

It doesn’t look that gunged up to me but nevertheless it’s worth removing and cleaning anyway, especially the transfer pipe that leads directly into the sump. Clean it, refit it, try it again and report back if the problem persists. 😉

Unplug it first don’t forget…. :zap:

    Hi Martin,

Thanks for the help. I cleaned the transfer pipe earlier but the problem is still there. From reading, I am wondering if it could be the sump gasket? The leak is definately not coming from the transfer pipe.

Not sure where I would begin in order to get at that gasket (if it is that)?

    Regards,
    Jas

The other main source of water leaks in the base are the main circulation pump…… 🙁

Perhaps but by replaying the video I took earlier I am wondering if it could somehow be the pressure chamber?

Here’s the video by the way: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKdBPq3Sjz8

Any tips on how I would go about doing that e.g. what parts to remove to get at it? 🙂

I looked yesterday on how to remove it but couldn’t find any guide or instructions.

    Hi,

Just a quick update…just put the dishwasher on a drain cycle but there is still quite a lot of water in the fill matrix. It should be completely free of water, right?

No. The best way is to restart a cycle . The matrix willfill then empty….once its empty , reset and drain appliance and you will be left with an empty matrix !

    Hi nomadPaul,

Thanks for the help. I did what you suggested earlier and took the matrix off and cleaned out the pressure chamber. Reassembled and no further leak but spray arms are not moving either – just fill and empty and a lot of buzzing. I think it might be the impeller that needs replacing so will have a look at removing that and need to get more familiar with my multimeter I think!
