siemens SE25M276GB, dishwasher tabs/rinse aid

Hi,
Ive just bought the above dishwasher, (hopefully it will last me many years- the 5yr warranty swayed me) and as a first time user, havent a clue what to use to get the best out of my machine.
what would most of you recommend with dishwasher tablets? are the tesco cheaper ones any good? and what about rinse aid? Is it just a matter of you get what you pay for?
also I live in a soft/medium water area, how often should I use salt? (what I have noticed with the salt, is that tescos brand feels grittier/larger crystals than finnish, so Ive gone for finnish.

Bin the 3in1 type tablets altogether and use seperate, good quality powder, rinse aid and salt.

The 3in1 things just don’t do what they say on the tin I’m affraid, you’ll get a much better wash result using seperates 8)

DON’T be tempted to use the Tesco ‘Naturally Sparkling’ Eco-friendly dishwasher tablets. They create far too much foam that the machines cannot cope with.
