ParticipantHey there guys,
Wonder if you could give me your thoughts on this Siemens dishwasher, went to look at it the other day after the customer reported that the initial washing machine cycle time differs. At first I explained that this was not unusual given the make and model of machine, however she has noted on occassions that it reports a cycle can be completed in as little as 30 mins with a full dirty load (instead of about 2 hours and 20 mins). When this happens it takes several presses of the reset buttons to bring it back to a more sensible cycle time.
During the cycle the time remaining would reduce by about 30 mins (within the space of 5 minutes), I was not sure if this was typical and any coments would be appreciated.
The customer also told me that the machine can stall on one minute and just linger until it is either turned off or a new cycle selected.
I’ve checked the control board but there are no signs of damage and although this appears to be happening more often the majority of washes are still ok.
The machine is 3 years old and subject to usual family usage.
Any help would be appreciated as usual 🙂

Not sure what you mean by this Mark? When the 2 button ‘reset’ procedure is activated the machine will just drain for 60 secs then turn off. Pressing reset to alter programme will simply restart another programme from scratch anyway.
I would suspect the fault more likely due to gunged up internal pipework. And that the heater needs checking to see if it fires up and possibly the turbidity sensor on the heater box is throwing a wobbly if it’s crudded up? All of which will give the symptoms you describe.
HTH? 😀

ParticipantThanks Martin,
I appreciate the reply, I’ll check the pipework when I return.
I know that the element is functional, I’ve checked it for cintinuity and by the face that the machine does wash the dishes, however I’m not too sure as to how I check that it turns on when it should, how would I check this?
Apologies I’m a reliteve newcomer to appliances.

Clamp your voltage meter crocodile clips on each terminal then switch on and wait from programmer to activate. Or more easily, just plug in a power meter into the 13 amp socket and do the same. Or even place a Clamp Meter around the mains cable. 😉
