ParticipantHello,
How is everyone today?? :waving:
I have a rather noisy dishwasher. It’s about 2 years old. It sounds like it’s something grinding, the pump perhaps….. (although it is pumping out water). Has anyone any idea what this could be? I’m pretty good at fixing things (within reason) – I would hate to have to call en engineer out to find it was something I could have done myself with a little research (i’m soooo very skint!! 😳 )
All help greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Sam 😛

ParticipantIs the noise occuring during the ‘wash’ part of the cycle ? If it is then the chances are that the motor seal has leaked allowing water to get in to the motor and corrode the motor and bearings –
Not the easist of jobs and can work out quite expensive if a new motor and seal is required 🙁

Yes, for the first min or so it’s not noisy but when the cycle kicks in there is the noise!!! I’ve checked out the price of motors for these and they are really expensive!! 😯 I’m very disappointed with this siemens, I paid for quality and only got 2 years out of it whereas my Zanussi went on for about 7 / 8years!! 😥
Will i need to call an engineer to check this out or could I check iy myself?
thanks for your help 🙂

Of course it’s possible that if you’re run it without the filter securely in place then it’s ingested something like a small piece of food wrapping which has caught on the wash pump impellor. The noise would be more like something catching in the spokes of a wheel on a bicycle travelling at 60 mph, and the cure would be a strip down and clean out.
Without an experienced ear the only way to diagnose is to take the RHS panel off and look for tell-tale signs of water leakage through the wash pump seals 😉
Despite the problem, don’t be too fed up with the machine…they are a cracking product and it’s quite uncommon for an early failure like a wash pump so would be well worth fixing.

ParticipantIf its only just over its 2 yr warranty period , i would be tempted to contact Siemens ( BSH appliance care ) and explain how disappointed you are with the failure of this machine when its only just over 2 yrs old. . Its not a given but they may offer a compromise with an offer to help….what have you got to lose ?

All Siemens have a 5 year parts and labour cover, providing you registered it within 30 days IIRC.
I would as Paul said contact them and say you forgot to register and explain that you expected more from a quality brand 😀Greg

Only selected models have the extended 5 or 10 yr warranty , not all appliances Greg 😉
