ParticipantHi,
I have had the Siemens SE26T551GB/04 dishwasher for just over 5 years now and have only recently started having problems.A few weeks ago the problem was the pump not shutting off when the door even when the door was open. The water was also not heating and although the program ran it didn’t finish.
I took out and cleaned the round filter assembly and poured some hot/boiled water into the pump/filter cavity at the bottom. This didn’t work and the pump kept going with a worsening burning smell. Again I repeated and again it didn’t work. Then I left it for 1-2 days and tried it again and for some reason it worked. May have had something to do with me completely unplugging it, perhaps it re-set somehow, I don’t know.
Since then no problem, until 2 days ago when I tried to start a program and it shorted out the house electrics. The display on the inside top edge of the door was on and I programmed as usual but as soon as I shut the door it tripped the main circuit breaker in our electrical supply panel.
This latest problem is probably pump/heater related but as it is so immediate there is no sound or smell to indicate what it might be.
Can anyone suggest some simple checks/possible culprits? I have an electrical tester and the usual basic electrical diy ability (repaired laptop chargers/installed shower/fan lights, run spurs for new sockets etc.) but need some pointers before stripping down the machine.
cheers,

It sounds like a door switch or lock issue TBH.

The drain pump working even with the door open means that the base of the machine is flooded. Since that time more water has entered the base and shorted out one or several of the components within. (i.e Motor, Heater, Pump)
Not a simple fix by any stretch of the imagination and I would advise getting professional help. Click HERE to find a local engineer. 😀

Hi everyone,
thanks for your help last time, it was the pump which would have been expensive but I managed to get a siemens engineer out and the dishwasher repaired for free. 😀Everything has been fine since then but 2 days ago the DW’s plug fuse blew shorting out the rest of the house, I replaced the fuse and the DW works but no longer heats. 🙁
Is this most likely to be the heating element (£100-150 I believe) or is there a chance it could be something I can fix more simply/cheaply i.e. a blown capacitor or a corroded/loose wire?
Any help welcome thanks, my wife’s going potty.
Cheers,

Guessing solves nothing and only going inside and checking it out will anyone come to a conclusion. Sorry but no simple solutions on this one I’m afraid. 🙁
What did the Siemens engineer do to it? Why was it repaired free of charge and if so why not try to contact the man again anyway?
