    Hi,
I have a Siemens Fully Fitted Dishwasher E code SE60T390GB/03, Type SD11TT1S and FD 8602000047, the machine is a bit over 2 years old. I mainly use the Auto Wash program.
Recently the cold water inlet pipe has started to bang between 1 and 10 times during a cold fill. Previous experience with a different make cured this problem with a new internal Cold water inlet valve.
I had a look at the Seimens web site and found the correct diagrams, but could not find an internal cold water inlet valve. I had a chat with Siemens and they said that there is no internal cold water inlet valve, only the external one (Called an Aquastop) which I thought was a flood prevention device.
When I described the fault they suggested the Pressure chamber was dirty (item 410 on the manual on the site).
Is the aquastop used as an inlet valve and therefore could cause this fault. Is it possible to test it with a multimeter?
Is the inlet valve built into another part of the machine so it isn’t known as the cold water inlet valve?

I am competent with electrical and electronic items and do not mind getting my hands dirty, with the power disconnected!

I found this on this site
    http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … pe+banging
but seem unable to get past the first page of any search.

    Thanks for any help offered.

If you look at the pressure chamber picture , you’ll see a hose – no 415 – and in all probability this will be blocked too.

The hose gets blocked and as the water tries to flow through it into the tub it ‘backs up’ , filling the pressure chamber and causing the drain pump to kick in , albeit briefly. The water level in the pressure chamber then drops as water starts flowing again , only for the ‘backing up’ to occur again. This constant switching of the drain pump is causing the knocking noise.

Clean the pressure chamber and hose and this’ll [robably cure your problem.

    nomadPaul,
Go to the top of the class!
I removed a large lump of something from the pipe, 415, and it seems Ok now after 1 wash cycle. I will post back again in a few weeks to let you know if it stays OK. I have some photos taken during the fun (!) and a further question relating to one of them, but haven’t worked out how to attach photo’s yet.

Thanks again for the top notch advice.

Not showing – easiest route is to host through photobucket or similar.

At last. apologies for the size.

The pic with the ruler is what came out of the pipe.
The view of the side of the dishwasher shows a “dirt collection” on the top left hand corner.
Does this need to be cleaned or even the heat exchanger replaced?
Any hints on how to prevent this from happening again. We have changed to the Fairy brand of soap and now use a cleaner once a month.

    Thanks.

That hose runs around the front left hand side of the machine. In the picture it looks as though it has been removed, it should be in the area of that rather grubby towel.

One or two people have had some success with a product called Grot Buster from Domestos, apparently if the fill matrix is removed and Grot Buster poured in and allowed to work its magic for 15 or 20 minutes it will often shift that gunge in the top corner. The whole of the area around the pressure chamber, the thing with the red & blue plastic bits in it needs stripping down and cleaning or replacing as well.

The best way to prevent this happening again is to rinse all dishes properly before you load them into the machine. Remember, it is a dishwasher, it is not a waste disposal unit. 😉

    Hi iadom,
Thanks for the reply, you are quite right about the waste disposal bit, I am some times a bit lazy, I will have to improve. I will give the cleaner a go if I can get hold of it.

    Thanks,

    Fred
