    Hi all, new here.
My DW top arm isn’t rotating, bottom one may be. Dishes not clean.
No arm blockages. Drain pump clean.

Trying to have a look at the impeller as it seems a possible cause. Got both the DW sides off and can see the motor with its rubber anchors. How do I get it out to check it? From the side, inside etc? I can see the motor seems to fit to what I believe to be the impeller with a bayonet action.

Could the capacitor be faulty? What should it read?

Also the water distributor seems mucky at the top but difficult to see if it’s blocked or just discoloured.

All advice appreciated as Marigolds are not a good look on me.

Underfilling will give exactly your symptoms. Remove the corrugated hose connecting the fill matrix to the sump moulding in the bottom left front corner and clean thoroughly. If the pressure switch chamber looks mucky, clean that as well.

If you really want to get the circulation motor out, you have to remove the cavity from the base.

Power off at all times, of course.

Thanks Penguin45 (BTW – are there 44 other Penguins in here?)

I already had the fill matrix out in the sink with bleach in it.
It was indeed mucky at the top near the float but it’s pretty clear now.
I also took your advice and cleaned out the corrugated feed tube. It was in a mess.

Trouble is I’ve tried running the DW and I’ve got a leak now. Bottom tray is filling with water. Simply cannot see where it’s coming from, the access to the underneath is really limited unless there’s a panel I’m unaware of.
Maybe it’s leaking from where I started to turn the motor where it ‘bayonets’ onto the impeller area. I’m pretty sure it’s back in place now though.

P***ed off now. Thought there was some light at the end of the tunnel.

    There’s a Pingu and an Ihatepenguin45 (he got a bit of a flippering)…. The 45 is my birthday – May the Fourth be with you…. 😀 .

    Anyway………
Always start with what you’ve alrady done. Fill matrix will gleefully tiddle water everywhere if you don’t get the tubes located properly in the “O” rings – should be obvious. Also, ensure that the transfer pipe is pushed fully home into its tubes.

Pump housings do leak, usually from the shaft seal – very difficult to spot due to the location. It is available as a kit of parts, so if it proves to be the source, you don’t have to buy the complete motor assembly. The end frame of the motor is always stained with soap deposits if you do finish up taking the cavity off

Re: siemens SE64630GB/7 rotor arm / impeller problem?

I ran the DW with the sides off so I don’t think it was the O rings. I’m sure I’d have seen any leak.

    But you’re right – it’s probably something I’ve done.

Do you have any advice on how to get to the motor and all the other ‘gubbings’ underneath? Don’t forget, I’m new to DW repair and have probably missed summat obvious. It seems almost impossible to get my hands into that area let alone see where a leak is coming from. I have both side panels off which allows a small window either side and loosening the stainless steel front panel under the door allows a little more access.

I can’t tell you blow by blow how to do it, but for full access, the cavity has to go – that’s the big stainless steel box. It’s retained by 4 screws. The sump screws have to go and the salt chamber retaining screws. And the door (release the springs first……). I do this sort of job once a week for one reason or another and it’s a pain.

Be very wary of the stainless steel – you can shave with any bare edge.

Ah – that explains why I can’t get in there.
Sounds like a big job but I guess I’ve come this far…
Can’t wait to see my wife’s face when she walks in halfway through.

    I’ll have a go tomorrow.
    Thanks Penguin45

Penguin45, thanks for all your help – I now have a working dishwasher.
    The thing is….well, I err..

I err, kinda bought a new one.

    Thanks again.
