    Hello,

I have a Siemens Siwamat 5401 washer dryer, which is tripping its thermal overload. I’ve checked the heater element (nice and clean with no signs of damage or corrosion), the air blower (which is spinning nicely). I believe I should also be checking and cleaning out the condenser. This is not covered in the owner’s manual and seems to be more than a simple exercise. I can see it inside, but can’t see how to get at it to clean it out!

Do you need to remove the front panel to do this? Any guidance on how to access the condenser would be appreciated!

    Cheers
    Graeme

Right, know what it is now 😀 .

Front off, lid off, power off – the condenser duct is running down the front right hand corner of the machine. Fan motor and housing out again, hose off at the bottom, then find the screws.

Pop that model number in on http://www.bshcustomerservice.com and you can call up the exploded diagrams, which are propbably clearer that my explanation!

Sounds easy when you spell it out like that! Just wasn’t sure if there was an easier way, since I thought this was a routine type of job, and some dryers seem to let you do it without dismantling. Still, not too bad when you know how!

Thanks for your guidance….I’ll give it a go tomorrow.

Run the condenser cleaning program after EVERY dry cycle 😉

Will that mean I don’t need to degunge the condenser in future? if so, sound advice!

All cleaned out now. It had a decent amount of crud in there, so I am presuming that is why the thermal trip was going off. Time will tell!

Thanks very much for all your help guys…..it was appreciated.

    Cheers
