ParticipantMy washingamshine stops before compleating the program, blinking the lamp “cloth-softening” and error code 4. Restarted the mashine and this time it completed the program. Next run, the same happened. Any ideas what this error message is about. Its not mentioned in the manual (only 1,3 and 8 ). Thanks in advance.

Thanks.
Observed the washer at the next run, and found that the motor din not run at all. I’m hearing the relay switches on and off, but no action on the motor. I will now open the washer and try to fins out what causing this.

Found the the brushes was worn down to almost nothing. The inside of the washer was cover with carbon dust. Maybe the commutator should be shaped up before replacing the brushes. One of the brush wires had come trough and made a track in the commutator.

I would say that commutator has been permanently damaged.
When you replace the brushes, you may get a lot of sparks. If this is the case a replacement motor is only cure.
You may get lucky and all may be fine. Clean com up with a comstick before introducing new brushes.Power off first of course :plug:

An email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will magically produce the brushes for you.
