The machine failed to work and just emitted a whining type noise. On investigation it appears that this is due to it not filling with water. I have checked the supply pipe and filters which seem to be in order. Next I disconnected the machine and removed the side panels to look for anything obvious and have found that at the bottom of the plastic matrix there is what appears to be a reservoir, with min/max lines, which contained a brown/coca cola coloured liquid. I was surprised at the colour of this as up to now its been working fine.

Does anyone know if this brown liquid is normal and suggest a fix?

    Thank you, Mark

Iron deposits in the incoming water supply. It needs stripping and cleaning. 😉

brown liquid culd be the regeneration unit. with reference to not filling. if you can hear a buzzing noise from the valve. check water supply is on. if its on it may have a aqua stop valve. try selecting a wash and removeing that water supply. this may releive the pressure. reconnect and try again. if this works turn the tap on so you can just hear the water going into machine…..good luck

Oops, missed this one. Faulty, find the model number and stick it up. There was one very specific no-fill problem that affected about 10 years worth of Bosch/Siemens/NEFF machines. Yours may be one of them.
