ParticipantMy dishwasher which is about 5 years old has performed well but a lately the wash is not as clean as it used to be , i have cleaned the washer every couple of months- cleaned out the washer and jets when needed. Is there anything else i can try or does it need a engineer visit if so what do the engineers charge for a callout os is it time for a new dishwasher.
Thanks Tally

Is it just one level or is it both levels that are unclean?
Is the dishwasher heating?

It could be the diverter valve has stuck. Symptoms usually are that one basket cleans OK but the other doesn’t. Do a test, remove both spray arms, set it on a Pre-rinse cycle. 5 minutes into the cycle open the door whilst it is running and take note of which of the two spray arm outlets is pumping the water. Shut the door and let it continue a further one minute then do the same, open door whilst it’s running and check again.
If it is working correctly when you open the door you will notice that a strong flow of water is being pumped out of just one of the spray arm outlets (not both) and that when you check 60 seconds later the OTHER outlet will be awash with the flow of water.
Let us know the outcome. 😀

Well, assuming you get a real flood of a flow through each when the spray arms are removed that eliminates any chance of a faulty diverter valve. (good news :D)
You say it also heats (more good news) so in essence it should give perfect wash results…..hmmmm?

Have you taken the arms off and thoroughly cleaned them. The holes can look clear but could still be stuff inside

Hi
Yes taken then off ran water though. Last couple of days i have noticed the tablet is in the cutlery basket half disolved, could that be the issueMarch 6, 2014 at 10:06 pm #410670Martin
ParticipantRe: Siemens stainless se25m575gb FD8509
There’s obviously not enough water being circulated otherwise the tablet would quickly dissolve. We’ve established there’s a flood of water that shoots out of each spray arm outlet when the spray arms are taken off. Established that the diverter valve switches alternately between top and bottom spray arms and that it heats up……hmmmm?
Tell us, if you allow the machine to progress say 5 mins into the cycle, turn it off, open the door, check how high the water level is. Does it lap the edge of the salt container?

I can answer that now, yes when i did the diverter valve test after 5 mins there was quite a bit of water in the bottom of the dishwaher
Thanks TallyMarch 7, 2014 at 7:46 am #410672Martin

I’m stuck for an answer to be honest. There cannot be anything I haven’t covered and it should work fine, though perhaps you’d best move the cutlery basket over to the far right hand side clear of the dispenser when it opens. The tablet should fall down into the water at the bottom and quickly dissolve.
