ParticipantHello . I still have a Siemens sn26t252gb/01. Its been going well since I last visted this site for help with a problem many years ago.
Now theres a new problem: It’s working perfectly apart from one thing – it has begun to turn itself off at random points in the wash, often more than once during the cycle.
Theres no error code – it just switches off, with the same ‘beep’ it gives if you turn it off by hand, and the display goes blank. If I press the on/off button it then comes back on and carries on as if nothing has happened. It might then go to the end of the cycle or it might turn itself off again at some other point.
Ive checked the plug and tried moving it to another socket but that doesnt make any difference. In any case, If I cut the power at the socker it goes off without the ‘turning off’ beep that i get when the problem arises
My questions are:
Could this only be a power supply unit problem, or could it be a symptom of other issues?
If it is the power unit, is it a simple swap for a new one? Ive had a look at the unit inside the door and am hoping I can just unplug that one and plug in a new one. Many thanks for any guidance

A further development this morning: After the program had been selected but before the ‘start’ buton had been pressed the ‘delay start’ display counted itself up to +10 without me touching it.

It might be associated with the magnetic door switch engaging and disengaging? Is it stood on an uneven floor?

Hi Martin – no, the floor is very even.
This evening I opened the door and switched the machine on. As I watched, after about 10 seconds it turned itself off.
The door was still held open so Im assuming its not the door switch.
It seems to be the program switches themelves along the top of the door that are misbehaving, and I suppose the electronics for them are underneath, attached to what is called on the Siemans parts list the Panel Frame. But that is £160 plus delivery and Im beginning to think that after many years good service that sort of money may be better put towards a new replacementOctober 10, 2017 at 7:15 pm #451005Martin

OK well I thought it could be that the magnet door lock (aka hall sensor) may just be sending the wrong signal to the electronics hence the odd behaviour. Just a thought that’s all. 😕
