    Hi Guys,

We have a Siemens Siwamat Plus WD5401 (E-Nr YD54010GB-01) and one of the cold inlet valves has started sticking open during the rinse cycle (water coming in at a rate of knots whilst being pumped out simultaneously….removing power doesn’t stop the in flow!). Turning the cold water off momentarily clears the problem.

What I wanted to know is…..are these inlets repairable if they stick open? The best price I’ve seen for the three way inlet is £63 plus delivery, hence I thought if it was a case of opening up the offending valve and cleaning out the scale, maybe it would be a plan!

    Your suggestions very welcome.

    All the best

Are they repairable?not any longer, they are sealed as regards the spring, seal and plunger which are inside the valve, likely the spring is corroded but can’t be accessed so it’s a replacement valve assembly. There could also also be sediment from the water system causing it but again it’s not accessible.

Mmmm, I wondered if this might be the case. There are visible screws which seem to hold it together, but maybe this won’t get me into the actual valve itself.

Guess that means a purchase! Any suggestions on a cheaper source than the ones I found using Google?

Pop into your local-washer-repair-shop with your broken valve, and get a second-hand or non-gen replacement 8)

Meh, Goatie – it’s a 4 way valve – ain’t no pattern ones out there.

The OP might like to note that the screw together valve has been superceded by an “Eton” type valve, which is “fail-safe” in construction. The incoming water pressure locks the valve closed. It’s in the Shop, HERE.

Re: Siemens Washer/Dryer cold inlet sticking open

Thanks for the input Penguin45. I had a look at the inlet valve and it turns out mine is a three way version. Does the shop do one of these (i couldn’t find it!), and would a pattern part be available for this type?

Also, you mention the screw together type has been superceded…..will those screws get me into the right part of the valve for me to have a go at fixing the sticking problem? Or is it a chuck away job?

Thanks again for all the help on this so far…..I gotta come up with a fix this weekend (or at least a plan) to keep the peace around here!

Only genuine Siemens valve will fit and that’s part number 088762. The valve in NOT serviceable by the way.

Thanks Martin, that clarifies things perfectly! So, where’s the best place to get Siemens spares? Unfortunately I couldn’t find the part in the shop here.

Alternatively, could I use something like this?

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Triple-Inlet-Wate … 240{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}3A1318

I realise I would have to change the connections at the end of my wiring…..or would this be spoiling a quality machine with a poor quality replacement!?

    Cheers
    Graeme
