Siemens WD31202GB/01 washer drier. FD 8107.

Customer moved the dial quickly round while the machine was on and now when the motor goes to start, it launches into spin on any setting. Module (170702) at the front, methinks……. question is…could anything else have caused it or be damaged by such an action? Motor meggers out OK.

    Any thoughts please!!

    Steve.

Doubt if your customer caused the fault. It’s probably just an open circuit tacho issue or as you mentioned the motor module. EMW fix and test those if I’m not mistaken?

Also take carefully note of the state of the motor harness wiring as that can get damaged through vibration etc.

    HTH? 😀

    Cheers, Martin. 😀

I checked the loom and looked at the brushes; armature clean and smooth; tacho has continuity but is pressed in behind a steel cap so I can’t see the magnet. I’ll have to assume it’s OK.
So module it is then. 😉

    Thanks,

    Steve.

You could also check for an output voltage from the tacho when you turn the motor manually. It’s difficult to imagine how turning the dial quickly could affect the tacho though.
