    Hi all

First post so Ill give a little background. Hope you can help, Im basicaly a novice but have electronics experience and Im gerneraly handy. I have repaired this machine a few times when there have been simple faults, Brushes on the motor, door boot, inlet valve etc, however this one has stumped me. So before I decide to either call in an engineer or just buy a new machine I thought id see if you guys could help.

here is what I have done so far

    1. Tested fuse, plug and cable, all ok
    2. Inlet valve is clear (but we have been getting a lot of rust through the mains latley)
    3. Tested and replaced door interlock (multimeter showed no continuity on any of the three pins up to 2Mohms so I assumed this was the issue and went and bought the part, no cigar!)
    4. checked power was coming into machine (safley using insulated Multimeter, I know you guys cant endorse this check) Live 240v reading over junction to power switch
    5. removed and inspected PCB some carbon dust deposit Hovered this off.
    6. STUMPED

    any ideas??

    Kind regards

    Colin

Take a closer look (component level) on the PCB.

Thanks for getting back to me Martin

I just inspected the track side of the PCB, Ill take the unit apart tonight and have a look at the components, I assume im looking for your standard electronics issues, burned out Resistors, bulging caps etc, anything else to look out for?

    Kind regards

ok took the board out, tested a few components all fine then rechecked the track side and hey presto! brocken tracks!!!! in three places all around the top of the selector switch. Ill bridge the connections and give it a go, otherwise its a new PCB.

    thanks for you help

repaired the tracks but the board started to fry when I turned it on, at least the active light showed, and the door lock operated, so Ill replace the board. any ideas where to go for a good price, nothing second hand on ebay as yet

    cheers for all your help

    hi thanks for that Kwatt.

that’s on the verge of being uneconomical for this 7 year old 2 washes a day machine.
Before I throw good money after bad though I had a thought, could it be a stuck or burned out fill valve? and could this cause the board to burn out? just that after I repaired the board and the machine tried to start, it was on its, I think, second instruction, (1) door lock (I heard the click) (2) open fill valve that the board began to smoke but the valve didn’t open. So if i go and stick in a new board with the initial problem still present could this then fry my new board? I guess that’s why I may be better off with an engineer or a new machine.

    any thoughts?

    many thanks

Try to follow where the burnt track leads to which connector plug. Then source the device the connector plug goes to will give you the answer. I’m thinking it may lead you to the motor?
