ParticipantI have a problem with a Siemens XL 1600 (E-Nr WXL167AGB/16) – the cycle runs OK but the water does not get hot, even on a 90C wash. There isn’t much of it either – I think there is just the initial fill (10-15seconds ?) and no more goes in. This is when running an empty 90C wash. The heater shows about 20 ohms when unplugged (which I think is right according to the Siemens eshop parts spec) and the thermostat gives an initial reading of around 5k and drops when held in the hand so I think that is OK. Nothing blocked as far as I can tell. The volts for the heater goes through the pressure switch which closes when I blow through the tube. I’m not brave (foolish?) enough to run it with the front panel off and check the voltage applied to the heater!
My Siemens dishwasher has a special combination of buttons that causes a test run to happen, giving error codes if there is anything wrong. Does this washing machine have anything similar, or any other way of checking the control module?
Anyone have any other ideas where to go next (other than the municipal tip) ?
Thanks in advance!

Basic checks are all that is required, live testing should not be an option to be considered.
Remove front of washer. Slip door seal clamp band and seal, release door lock, undo two bottom screws and the one in the soap drawer opening. Pull panel down and off.
I have been seeing a lot of machines with burnt-out connections at the heater recently, so there may be an obvious and easy fix. Failing that, metering the heater should show a resistance of 20-25ohms. If those checks prove to be OK, you’re probably looking at a board fault. Might be worth checking for dry/burnt solder joints on the PCB, but this isn’t common.
Power off first, please.

Thanks Mr P. The board is pretty expensive to replace but I’ll take it out and check for anything obvious before I make a decision. At the moment, I’m running hot water via funnel and hose into the soap dispenser but this isn’t exactly ideal :rolls:
