ParticipantTurned the programmer to 40 degeree wash and all of the symbols in the display are shown (Prewash, Washing, Rinse, Final spin/Drain, Overdosage, Childproof Lock) with the weight shown as 8.88Kg the time as 88.88 and the spin as 1998 and the machine will not start. Tried selecting other programs but the same happens. I suspect a dead control unit.

Has or is the machine out in a cold outbuilding or been brought in from the cold recently?

Yes, it’s in a cottage that hasn’t been used since the summer but is now occupied, so it probablt pretty cold in there without the heating on.

I suspect that may be the case and therefore the machine has a degree of moisture (condensation) affecting the electronic circuitry. The machine needs to be disconnected from the mains (pull the plug) then raise the room temperature above 15C and allow 48 hrs for it to dry out naturally. Longer if possible, higher room temperature will shorten the downtime before you can plug in and try it once more.
Fingers crossed 🙂

Hi Martin,
Thanks for the replies and info. The machine was last used in the summer and then the cottage was shut up as it wasn’t going to be used until next summer but we had someone who wanted to stay there this winter. It did get very dampish in there and quite cold. I’ll pull the machine out and disconnect it and maybe run a hairdrier with the back off the machine and see if that helps remove any moisture.
Crossed fingers….

Ah well in that case remove the lid as the electronics are at the top. Easy with the heat blasting now !!
