I have a Siltal brand refrigerator with separate freezer compartment on top, with a single compressor. I need to replace the thermostat but can’t release the capillary tube from the inner skin of the fridge – the thermostat is in a plastic housing on the right side of the fridge, the wiring passes back through the inner plastic skin of the fridge and appears outside at the back, dropping down to the compressor etc. The thermostat capillary tube also passes back into the plastic inner skin of the fridge, next to the wiring, but doesn’t re-appear anywhere so I can’t trace it to see if / where it might be attached. Any ideas?

The capillary tube passes through a plastic tube that ends at the rear of the evaporator. There is no further clips, claps etc to hold it in place. Mark up where the capillary goes into this tube then carefully draw it out (you may have to fully defrost as they sometimes get frozen within the tube) then mark the new capillary at the same length as the old one and refit to the same marking. Power off please before you start.

Excellent, thanks. The problem was that the capillary tube was frozen in place, once defrosted it came out.
