Which places us above many a manufacturer let alone anyone else. I think we beat Hoover and Hotpoint amongst others. In large part that is down to the vast repository of information that is the forums.
On top of which the hits are, as you can see going mental. We’re getting about 1000 unique visitors a day!
And I’ve got some really interesting facts and figures for Sibson.

Some interesting info there but what is this all about,
Speed: Very Slow (99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of sites are faster), Avg Load Time: 10.8 Seconds (what’s this?)
How do they get to an average load time of 10.8 secs???

Sorry I’ve had to spend some time with the kids etc today, bloody annoying and it cut the post short.
The average laod time is amassed from data sent by users of the Alexa toolbar, don’t get it it’s SPAM really, but nonetheless the information is valid and live really. What you have to appreciate on the load time (which is the time that the user takes to load the page up) is that you have people out there still on dial up, in fact about 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of all users are on a non-broadband connection. Nor does it take account of the user who is downloading a movie whilst surfing the net, these and many other factors can affect the load time. However, I do take the point and if the new server hadn’t fried under testing UKW would be a bit faster, but there’s a lot of info to parse onto the screen.
*IF* the traffic doesn’t fall we should be just about to, or just should have, passed 5 million page views by Sibson. That’s three months ahead of the “best case” predictions I made in January, which is astounding really and still shows a massive growth.
Staggering really.

Should we run a small competition for people to guess the correct number of hits the UKW site gets before 12 o’clock midnight Christmas Eve 2005.
cut off date for entries December 1st. 2005We could perhaps open it up to the public, it doesnt have to be a humungous prize as it’s just for fun 😉
Just an idea

KeymasterNot a bad idea at all Sean.
What would we suggest as a prize then? Please, no-one say a UKW mug as Kev’ll have kittens. 😉

Irespective of what ever UKW comes up with and just to make it even more interestin my own company Deltec would be willing to donate a 1200 spin Bosch washer with 2 year parts and labour to any contestant that came within 500 hits of the actual answer.
The only thing I would ask is that the nearest UKW member to the winner
would be willing to install it properly.Anyone else want to chip in owt

KeymasterFirst thing we need to do is work out how to do it as, if this gets out on the web to some of the “freebie” sites we could be deluged with literally thousands of entries.

KeymasterDamn Sean, that’s awfully good of you. I meant to say that earlier and got kinda distracted.
And, if you didn’t notice, we just passed 4.5 million page views.

I’m sure there is a way to make this work we have enough good minds in the war room to find a way.
The whole success of the site has been the interest it has generated with both the trade and the public alike.
We have to come up with ideas to hold and maintain that interest. The knock on advantages are tremendous with the additional chargeable work we can help generate and bring to the membership.
We have to keep showing joe public that there is a far better alternative to manufacturer or insurance supplied servicing.
I take Martins point that the interest generated will attract spammers but we have to deal with them now as best we can anyway. The only way to stop them compleatly is to close the site.

You spot on there Sean and you volunteering a Bosch machine is very generous indeed and I applaud the sentiment. However I don’t think we need to diversify beyond what is already happening on the site in order to maintain its present following. The interest is there and you know full well with the future plans already in place that the interest in the site will grow even more in the coming weeks and months 😉
My comment about spammers was just by way of a reality check for you guys not to get too carried away with the ‘hits’ UKW is presently generating.
At the time I wrote to Indesit about UKW (the bastards never replied by the way) I asked Ken what he thought might be the total hits we could achieve in the future. Even then Ken predicted it would reach 5 million before the end of 2005 and he was not far short of that prediction and one that at the time I felt was very optomistic. But once again Ken was spot on (well almost as that total should happen by October – 2 months early).
So the old addage may well apply here at least “if it ain’t broke, don’t mend it!”. Just lets keep on pumping out the facts and pleasing the punters and the mountain will come to Mohammed I reckon. 🙂

How about more than one prize…say 6 and make them regional so that they are easier to distribute and install.
or
Why not make the prizes vouchers to spend at any UKW repairers.
orDo amazon sell gift vouchers

KeymasterAnother 10,000 or so pages views today and we’ll have exceeded 2.5 million page views this year.
Even allowing for spammer twats and bots that’s one hell of an achievement.
How much do I wish I got paid per page view!
