Fault after recent power interruption:

When the Fridge door is open the light flashes on/off and display also goes off – there’s a definate relay clicking at the same time.

When door closes is stops. Had the PCB out, can’t tell which relay is clicking or why??

PCB has a reed switch which I presume is ok because the fault clears when the door closes.??

Any ideas/pointers… Why when the door is open??

Apart from the light it works fine 😕

long shot here

sound like a power supply fault on th pcb

ie board is ok until you open door : door light relay energises : power drops on pcb : and display goes out

fault is similar to a low battery small amounts of power ok larger amounts and it fails

look for power source on pcb a lot of the times it is a capacitor around 1uf or so and these go down with age

get similar faults on ariston dishwashers

thanks Dave,

I’ll have a look when I go back Wed/Thu. There was no sign of any damage to any components but I will look again specifically at the caps and try and find the one for the door light, then take if off and test/replace…..

you are not looking for a power supply toi the door but to the whole pcb

find live input to board and follow tracks on board to see what components it goes through first

you could send me a photo of board if you like and i will hazzard a guess

also the components may not look damaged so you may not see anything its just getting tired

Hi Dave,

Sorry been a tad busy today. I’ve got a couple of piccies of the PCB whilst I was there yesterday, but they’re not great. (only 1 will be of any use)

If I get the chance tomorrow I’m going to collect the PCB to try and repair it.

I just wondered what the tech bulletin was?? Sounds like there have been problems with them.

the large grey block by the left hand plug is the power supply cap

looks to be a 1uF but it will be printed on it

replacement must be correct value and capable of taking over 250 v ac

if it does not work you habe not lost much as they are quite cheap

i source mine from http://www.rswww.co.uk
example

part number 441-9688 is a 1uF cap 300 vac with a lead spacing of 22.5 mm cost 63p each sold in packs of 10 but no p&p next day delivery

but you will have to look at the values on your component

Hi Dave,

You were spot on fella. Removed and tested the 1uF cap and it was down to .6uF – replaced it. Fitted the pcb this afternoon and it works a treat. I owe you a pint :beer:

I’ll put this thread on the simple PCB repairs sticky later when I upload the piccies.

if you order off web no prob

i use farnell as well register as a trader register your card as a corporate card ( even if it is personal ) if you order before 8pm no min order and no delivery charges arrives next day unbelievable service

I’m quite lucky. I don’t buy individual components. Locally there’s an electronics engineer. He charges me £10.00 including the parts for minor repairs to PCB’s – sounds a lot but save me a lot of hastle – he always has the parts in stock and normally turns them around for me in a few hours…. couldn’t ask for more. 😀 😀
