    Re: Slow Carriers

The truth is DHL dont want this work, DHL want to get rid of all domestic carrige and concentrate of International work and DHL are getting rid of loads of their experienced drivers in favour of foriegn cheap labour with a lot of stuff going missing in the process. We had a DHL guy who delivered to us for years, he was proffesional and always dropped with us before 10am every morning every day without fail. DHL started new working practices with there self employed drivers like drivers having to pay DHL when they took holidays, they had to then pay for contract drivers to take their place while on holiday. I particular driver done the work of three men and whenever he was off DHL would have at least three drivers runing his route, these drivers could never get all the drops done and would take the vehicles back loaded with drops not completed. If one of the drivers went sick while he was on holiday they would charge him
money to replace the driver even though it was DHL that selected these unreliable drivers in the first place.

Deutsche Bundespost want DHL to concentrate on International courier work as that is the most profitable and they are cutting back on domestic contracts. Sooner or later Connect as well as others will have to find a reliable alternative carrier because if Connect want to charge us for next day delivery and its days in coming Connect may well see a downturn in orders in favour of other suppliers who will use one of the many other courier companies who can deliver next day.

    Re: Slow Carriers

I bought a refurb computer from a firm on e-bay on New Years day.
It took 11 or twelve days to be despatched because they had no delivery of boxes for packing. Then they sent it with DPD. I waited in all day Tuesday – no show.
Looked on tracking next morning it said parcel had been delivered and signed for with my surname at 16.20 Tuesday. 👿 👿
I rang them up and listened for half an hour to their announcement which told me how they’d won accolades for their quality of service blah blah… and got cut off twice. Finally got through and found out that parcel was back at depot (65 miles from here), previous day’s delivery had been contracted out to an “agency worker” who had “made a mistake” :rolls: and parcel would be with me later today. They actually rang the driver and got him to give a two hour window. Luckily it was the regular bloke and he arrived at his usual time – about 5.30pm.
    Mike.
