I am sorry to post this here nearly a six months on but its starting to make me wonder if WTA gets anything done. Long Story Short, Having decided to join WTA we were expecting to get id cards, a listing and listing on the UK whitegoods find a engineer with special WTA star.

Having sent in our subscription fee, two photographs for the ID cards we never received anything ! Having corresponded with a WTA honcho we had a few excuses which I wont go into here, suffice to say we were promised this and that but six months on I cannot see what we have got for our subscription money.

In any other arena where a body accepts members and members pay a fee those members would obtain membership cards and whatever, imagine joining a breakdown service and never receiving anything ? Even my local Snooker club send me a membership card ! Whats Going On Chaps ! 😳

See also this thread as there is crossover.

The card thing has been a nightmare frankly and, TBH, you’re about the only person remotely bothered about it, perhaps another one or two. So, given the low demand it hasn’t been right up there on the “to-do” list. Frank, honest answer even if it’s not popular.

In part, it’s my fault as well as I’ve not had the time to sort out the technology stuff and, given the above, it’s not been marked as a priority by me either.

But please do bear in mind that the WTA, whilst it has a few people that are incredibly dedicated and work like also have their own lives and don’t get a bean for doing this stuff. They also run their own businesses, which tends to take priority over doing stuff for no return other than helping out others.

If you want to volunteer to help and do the cards, you’re more than welcome to do so and I’ll happily send you the printer to get cracked on with it? 😉

However to focus on solely that does seem a tad unfair.

I mean there’s a few other things out the TA, you know, like involvement with the OFT, DEFRA, fuel cards, Amica… just a few other balls to juggle with no time, no budget and bog all resources. So, to be fair, focussing on the little bits they perhaps don’t get right with the body of other things they also have to deal with is, IMO, a bit unfair.

    Re: Sluggish Response From WTA

Whilst I was aware that the people involved run this out of their own time which I am sure WE all appreciate along with all their efforts & dedication and notwithstanding that you have now made clear why WTA members will not see a membership card, as a WTA member I was never aware of any of the benefits that you mention Kwatt.

OK so this membership card is bogged down by technology issues and that seemingly no one has time to implement it and its low down on the list of priorities I understand that, but surely WTA should produce a members pack which at the very least should or could outline all the benefits that you mention ? I don’t mind stumping up seventy quid a year to support all the values that the WTA is designed for, but when I enquired originally about this we were told that these cards would be produced as part of the membership the cards which not only serve a ID for all members but also bring further credibility if they were actually in existence, so I do not feel out of place by asking again where the cards are or if they will be sent out to WTA members.

Anyway thanks for answering this at least I know the position so will not need to bleat on about it any further. lol
