Don’t forget that here at EMW, we program the board for you so you don’t need a smart card reader now, or at any time in the future. The only reason why Indesit have introduced these readers is because all their new boards will have the eprom soldered in place, so you cannot plug in an eprom. The idea is that you buy a brand new board from Indesit and then buy the matching smart card. As I have mentioned before, this is an expensive way of carrying out repairs for independents as not only are brand new boards expensive but also the smart card is use-once only. In addition to this you are expected to buy a card reader ! The answer is – stop worrying about card readers – you don’t need one. If you do have a brand new board in stock and are a bit stuck – send it to us and we will program it and test it for £9+vat including return first class post. Tony 0115 9652118

Can you do anything like that with Hoover / Candy modules? As I understand it, they have a few generic boards which are programmed for a particular model. If I had a good board from a scrap machine could it be re-programmed to suit a different model?
