    Hello washing machine enthusiasts!
    Have a problem with f & p smartdrive 708
It won’t start the cycle, just sits there, but when I go to run diagnostics – I can’t get any codes.
I press wash temp down then power, get 2 beeps.
At this stage ‘water level low’ led is on.
I toggle spin to hold + slow spin, but get no further diagnostic leds.
    Water level ‘low’ remains on.
Any ideas? As I recall, washer was a bit unbalanced for a while last wash, but seemed to correct itself…

    Thanks for any ideas….

Does the washer power up at all?
If So most likely cause is the lid Switch
Lid switch (Reed Switch)located front RHS under the Hob

    Nice one bigsmokepiker.
    Thanks for your helpful advice
Yes the machine was powering up
Yes the lid switch you indicated is the problem – when it is bypassed the machine will start normally.
This might be too much to ask, but I can’t figure out how to access the switch itself to remove/replace the switch harness. I got hold of an exploded parts diag which is only mildly helpful and i know where to buy the part, but short of a major removal/strip down not sure how to get under the top deck assembly to find it.
Is there a sneaky way to do it?

Just had another look – is it a matter of removing the 2 plastic caps at the front then just undoing the 2 screws?

Apologies if this is a stupid question

    Thanks
    Rohan

    1/2 WAY there
Yep take Out Two caps & screws Lid Off
Hob just Lifts Back Beware of Clips At back of Machine .Reed switch wiring runs Into control panel & connects to Micro switch
To get to microswitch you have to access control panel remove motor controller (Bottom PCB) Note Do not remove Pressure hose(Clear tube) if washer full of water
    Good Luck Power OFF
