So I’ve a Candy Grand o vita washing machine model number GVS 1610TH-1/80. It has no dials or buttons but a touch control panel… a smart panel apparently which at the moment is acting pretty dumb!
Well I can’t get the start ‘button’ to start the washer. It doesn’t matter how delicate or hard I try, short of hitting it which will be the next step if I can’t work it out

Everything else seems to work ok though, temp, spin speed, etc.

Is this likely to be a PCB issue or does anyone have any other suggestions?

I’d be grateful of any advice.
    Many thanks

Page 10 instruction manual attached. There are a few possible’s there. Key lock, smart touch and so on. Could be worth a try before sending for an engineer or reaching for your hammer 😀

Hmmm… well nothing seems to be working now! I tried to give your suggestion a go but not getting any response! The panel lights up as normal as you switch through the different programs but the buttons are just not responding… it’s as if it’s laughing at me 😡

“Laughing at me” that`ll be that Chinese sense of humour our overlords just cannot resist!! Yes one of my customers fell victim to this problem with a Hoover badged dumb version on a theme twice! The first time replacing the pcb behind the facia panel cured the problem then 8 months later it did it again BUT this time it was the power pcb – the one down the bottom rear right, least on their machine. Originally I thought the door lock was jerking about but being a cheap to replace component it was not to be; well it just couldn`t have been that could it? Actually both Hoover and Candy versions are, to sum up in no uncertain words, complete rubbish machines that try to be clever but fail dismally their only virtue is that the sealed tanks are somewhat longer lasting ( that is if the rest of the machine lasts that long ) than a Bosch sealed tank, least it seems that way based on current experience! Since it could be either pcb or even both you might want to dig out your paper work because I would`ve thought it would be under the 10 year freebee parts warranty. Things you visually could check are the motor brushes before doing anything though it was a grasping at straws on my part if its not an induction motor version ( no brushes ) though with the heap I had the problem with the brushes were fine but if you do not check you`ll never know.

OOOPS! “though with the heap I had the problem with the brushes were fine but if you do not check you`ll never know”. Should have been: though with the heap I had there was no problem with the brushes as these were fine but if you do not check them you`ll never know..

Yes it did come with a 10 year guarantee however for some reason I was paying Domestic and General £4 a month which I cancelled last year. That seems like an argument I need to have with them. Im sure that they’ll come up with some baloney as to why it’s invalid now!!

To be fair I did think that it may be the door lock. I gave it a good shove last night to make sure it shut properly and it sent the control panel nuts as though someone was turning the program dial. It was flashing through the different programs like disco lights and stopped when I turned it off.

Have you come across that before?

10 years on parts, yes. Labour on a chargeable basis.

    Candy guarantee terms here
