ParticipantSmartdrive 085
MODEL: AW085U
Product Code: 93102Description: The machine does a full wash and rinse cycle, but fails to start on spin (empty or full). All water has been pumped out. The drum attempts to spin every couple of seconds, but doesn’t actually get moving. No evidence of leaking water.
Fault Code Readout (from holding Temp Down then Power, then cycling through Spin Speed Up, that’s the the hex digit at the start of each line)

Does anyone have a service manual for this model that they’d be able to send me?
Thanks in advance

Mesure the motor resistance between red blue and yellow should all be around 13 ohms get back to us with the results

ParticipantRe: Smartdrive 085 fails to go into spin cycle
Red/Blue 7.4 Ohms
Red/Yellow 11.5 Ohms
Yellow/Blue 11.5 Ohms
That’s the plug I measured on.

It looks to me like a bad stator. Remove the rotor(rotating plastic thing on the bottom of the shaft under the WM) and stator (stationary side of motor with all the windings that the rotor fits over), make sure the WM has not been leaking into the motor, and check the rotor sensor (on the side of the stator). Replace this if corroded.
Let us know how you go 😉

Have a close look at the stator you may see two of the wires just rubbing and you can seperate them. Then check the resistance again if your lucky was a problem with this model

Where should I look for rubbing wires?
Inside the Stator or the wiring loom?
How do I open the Stator (I don’t want to break it, so I’d rather ask first)

You will see on the stator wires chiscrossing each other sometimes you will see two touching. Undo the rotor the 5/8 nut in the middle then you will see the stator the bolts are 3/8 not 10 mm beware of static on the RP Sensor

Thanks. I’ll have a go over the weekend and report back.

A huge thanks guys, it was indeed two wires touching in the stator. There were a couple of tiny corroded spots where the wires were touching. I put a bit of electrical tape around the top one to insulate it, put everything back together, measured ~12.5 Ohms between each winding.
A small test it spun up, it’s now doing a full load.
Again, massive thanks guys.
Does anyone have the service manual for this model? If someone has a paper copy I’d be happy to pay for photocopying/postage, and to digitise it.
