ParticipantHello,
I’ve just returned from overseas and our F&P smartdrive is playing up, after 4 years in storage. It model is AW005U and product 93102.
The first few washes were fine then it started having problems filling up, on any temperature. It would stop and beep with the Hot and Cold leds flashing.
When I go into diagnostic mode, with Slow & Hold both on, the code from right to left is 10010000.
After being in diagnostic mode, I tried to start another load and it is failing now, with the same error code, 10010000 flashing.
Any thoughts? 😥
Thanks in advance

Motor controller fault, almost dead cert. P/no 428204BP. Do the obvious – check connectors to board etc (with the power off), but expect the worst. I gather that reconditioned boards can be found at reasonable prices.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I’ll double-check the connectors and then look at replacing the board.
I’ll let you know how I go.

Penguin45,
Went to get a recon motor controller board and the guy thought that it more likely be one of the valves. Did a quick test on the controller board there and then and it seemed to work fine, so I took a couple of valves instead.
Sure enough though the problem is still there but there did seem to be a problem with the valves not working. In diagnostic mode the water flow looks fine now, and I can get both cold and hot water coming through at the right pressure, which wasn’t happening before. However the error codes are the same, 10010000 for SH (0011).
There is a couple of different outputs now though at other stages, for F (1000) I get 00111000 & 11011000 alternating. And for FM (1100) I get 11000000.
I just wanted to check back with you that it was still likely to be the controller board, before I make the purchase.
Also, is there anyway in diagnostics to empty water from the machine, as there is a bit of water in there now after testing the valves.
Cheers. 😕

Thanks for the email. Did as advised but the spares guy was pretty adamant the board was ok and even went through a quick wash, rinse & spin cycle whilst I was there – all seemed fine.
He suggested to try resetting the load size setting to 5kg ie. Hot + Power, then Hot buttons to set it to 5kg.
Turned machine off and on again, and presto, it started to wash.
All looked rosy until the spin cycle, at which stage it stopped. It now seems to be trying to spin, some water being drained then stop. Repeats this a few times then stops with error (R->L) 10110000.
This also shows in diagnostic mode, with Hold + Slow on.
Time for a pro ❓ Wife is getting a bit peeved and I’m running out of jocks! 🙁
Cheers

Sorry for the delay, kmc. Yup, you’ve got another code that doesn’t register. The main computer board really hasn’t got much of a clue what it’s up to. It’s either getting lots of false signals, or it’s fritzed. At this distance, I really can’t tell you much more. Yes, probably time for some pro help – there really is only so far you can go without the diagnostic rig and lots of experience.
Let us know how it pans out,
Best regards,
