reading your threads i would think my problem is the thermostat,main oven burns food and smokes,tem set on lowest of low and still smokes and burns.Knob is ok ie works not cracked.Dispite her indoors cleaning it every time before cooking it still smokes.Perhaps a new thermostat?

Does the red light ever go out to say the oven has reached temperature?

yes the light goes out,but with the therm set at low tems ie 25 and less it still burns and smokes,her indoors does clean it before cooking, and the back is always cleaned,,perhaps i should try the tem settings with a separate therm?

It is possible that the stat may be out of calibration. An oven thermometer will confirm this. Check out Repairs@ for an engineer in your area.
