Smeg A2 range oven lifting lid

I’ve got a Smeg A2 range oven that I need to replace the main oven selector switch.
I have fitted these switches before on Smeg range ovens by lifting the hob lid but this one it seems there are two support bars either side connected to the hob lid.

am I correct in thinking I have to take the sides off the machine to remove the support bars and then the lid?

I ran out of time last week so I’ll have to go back and complete the job, any tips would be welcome
