Have a strange fault on the above, Where if you turn the multi function oven switch clockwise to the fan oven setting its fine, But if you turn it anti clockwise, from the fan setting to off it trips the RCD more often than not. Have tried with a new element, didn’t help.

I was thinking the same, but its a gas hob and I cant see an easy way of getting to it without removing the burner bases from the hob, Which Im not prepared to do. May have to pass this back to Smeg!.

    Hi
Most of the new Smeg range’s hob tops “Bonnet” up after releasing some screws and the fascia and you should have access then. Eastlmark is the guru on these lot 😉

You need to check all the elements as they can briefly be contacted when turning the knob. But the most likely thing will be a melted or tracked commutator (selector switch). Must admit that the range of smeg ranges is so diverese I often dont know if the “bonnet” lifts up or not till I get there. Most since 2003 do but there is no hard and fast rule about if and how. you can often remove the comm for inspection through the hole left after removing the clock if your lucky! Careful though as a lot of comms have superceded part numbers and you often have to change a fair number of tags as well.
