ParticipantMy daughters Rosieres 4040Db is 119.5 cm wide and fits tight between marble worktops. The Rosieres is 20 years old.
She is now considering buying a Smeg A4 120cm dual fuel range cooker, but will it fit between the worktop edges- 119.5cm-? The Smeg measurement diagram shows 120cm,but I was wondering if this is a nominal measurement.
There is room on one side to trim 1cm off the marble, however,I would prefer not to have to do this, mainly the dust involvad.
Can 1) any householder
2) any service angineer
3) retailer
confirm the exact width of the Smeg A4 120 dual fuel range cooker.
Many thanks – JudeNovember 15, 2012 at 10:10 pm #384869DrDill

You are only 5mm too narrow, i think it will squeeze in as the smegs tend to be a few mm shorter.

Hi
It WON’T fit and if you order it the retailer does not have to take it back.
It is the correct size given. Personally the rosiers is a far better built cooker and will outlive the Smeg.
Spend a couple of hundred getting your cooker back into functionality.
Far to much electronics have been fitted to the Smeg range cookers.. Since when do you need a A4 size PCB With about 9 relays and electronics to roast a turkey ?.

Ok, bryan, how many new smegs have you sold, how many have you had on your shop floor,?
The op has asked weather the smeg will fit and has stated they have an additional 10mm to play with if nessessary. Not for your opinion on the smeg or a repair of the old cooker. What is the reason for your totally opposite reply to the op’s question? I can only assume it us because i have replied.

My reply was due to experience when installing the Smeg range cookers and not having them sitting on a shop floor. In real life cabinets are not 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} square and may show 1200 at the top and rear top but that’s not the case of size at the bottom or bottom rear.
Range cookers if squeezed into a gap then twist and doors go out of alignment.
Reliability.. Heat and PCB’s never mix well. Over engineered to carry out a simple function.
But as a retailer I am sure that you will happily supply this customer the range cooker, order it deliver it and when it doesn’t fit collect it and refund all the money they have paid as you seem to know more than the manufacturers about size requirements.
As for replying just because you did.. You must have a complex.

Now byan, i will ask you to not post assumptions about how i carry out my business and what i would and wouldnt do if a sale didnt work as planned, this is bordering on slander and i would like you to edit and remove that reference please. I would never post assumptions as regards how you carry out your business. I expect this to be done immediately, otherwise i will take this further.
You bryan need to read the op’s original post and you can see that i have answered the question posed by them, you have replied to a question that wasnt asked.

If you feel that I have slandered you or your reputation then you will need to take the necessary action. As I have not done so.
You as a retailer made a statement stating that a cooker that is designed to fit into a space at 1200 would fit into a space of 119.5 and to which you would have a duty of care as you the retailer was given the facts of the available space 119.5 but stated that you THINK it would squeeze into the space.
Large metal boxes dont squeeze well in any way what so ever without distorting or twisting which I have stated a 1200 box will not fit into a 119.5 hole simple.
But as you have sold so may as you state off your shop floor then with the information that you gave to the consumer who i advised to purchase from your self as you have said it should squeeze into the space then you would have all the relevant information. If the information that you advised was incorrect then the customer is fully entitled to a full refund of all monies paid. Simple. that is not liable or slander but SOGA.
The original post was my daughter is “” considering “” buying a new cooker.. that give me the right to give my own personal opinion to weither it would be better to repair and rebuild the old cooker rather than purchase a over engineered over priced range cooker as other manufacturers and models are available.

Bryan, you are a k##b, you really are! You just make things up as you go along, you make posts that are factually incorrect and ignore anything i have said that dosnt fit in with your remit. The op asked weather the smeg would fit in and also stated they had extra space they could use, so it is obvious to everyone, except your self, that it will fit. I personally think it would fit, and with the extra width available it would not be a wasted purchase, as this could be used if it didnt slide in first off. This is not made up by me, the op stated this in their first post, and i cannot see where they asked if the smeg was good or the old unit worth fixing, you just made this up because you are wanted too, you answered questions thst were not asked! They had decided on which range they wanted, they had decided not to repair , they asked a simple question which i answered, you havnt answered anything except to say it wont fit, sorry bryan it will, they may need to use that extra 10mm, but it will most certainly fit, eventually.

Thanks guys for contributing to this lively discussion. My daughter’s husband has said to her “I knew your father was a trouble maker”
Bryan- Your point about too much electronics strikes a cord with me.We may take up your suggestion of repairing the Rosieres4040,or perhaps waiting until the details of the new Rosieres Prodgie range cooker is announced, although it looks like it will be 117cm wide, which would leave a 1cm space on either side.
As another option to solving the width problem,I was reading up on a Fisher& payke OR120DDWGX2 range cooker
Can anybody on the forum offer advice on this cooker.
Once again my thanks to Dill and Bryan.Regards — Jude
