ParticipantHello guys,
I have a dual fuel (LPG) Smeg range cooker, 1500 wide, 2 ovens. Each oven has its own timer. The issue I’m having and have had for the last couple of years is that, where the live wire connects to the circuit board of the timer, it ends up burning the connector & board out. The back is all black and scorched and the spade (male) part often comes away from the board. The first time it happened , i just took it on the chin and bought a new one – £140 from Servevast – Smeg authorised spares. Then the other time went a while after, again – i took it on the chin, forked out another £140. But within 12 months the first one that burnt out, went again, I contacted Servevast and they sent out one free – we both presumed a faulty part. Then the other one went again and by now Im starting to loose the plot. Another one bought, another free replacement and we are still at the same place.
I currently have 1 timer working – although it shows early signs of blackened damage and one burnt out.. Servevast are dragging their heels in sending me out another free – don’t really blame them and I’m reluctant to shell out another £140 as the last one only lasted 3 months.
If it were a small cheap oven, I think I would have probably replaced it by now, but as it cost £2500 ish and its 1500 wide, replacements are few and costly.
Ive also had to replace various elements so the repair bill total is stacking up now.
The timer part number is 816291323
Any advice where to start troubleshooting?
Thanks
Dave

Thanks, I’ll stomach buying one more and solder it on.
