My compact built-under SMEG dishwasher (not sure of the model number) has stopped taking in water, and it seems to be the aquastop (Bitron 902). My questions are:

If it is the aquastop, how can I reset it? I have tried disconnecting at the aquastop end. Is there anything else I can try?

If it is not the aquastop, can I check a float switch inside? Is there an easy way to check the sump for signs of a leak?

Failing the first two, can anyone recommend an engineer in West London? Thanks.

Re: Smeg compact DWD 44 not filling – addendum

I see it is in fact the internal flood check (float switch) which is cutting off the water flow. I have found that there is water in the sump by tipping the unit back to drain it. So the next question is obviously how is the water getting there? Is it at all possible there is a simple DIY check for the leak? Thanks in advance.

Very rarely a simple one John, check in Repairs@ or Directories on this site to see if there is UKW repairer in your area.

Hmm, too bad. Thanks for your reply Penguin45. No listings for my area. Can anyone recommend a London engineer?

Re: Smeg compact D/W not filling – follow up

Just wanted to pass on the rest of my story:

I called in Domex to fix the d/w, who found the leak in the impeller. He said I’d need a whole new motor/impeller assembly, and his office called me back with a price – over 200 quid. I decided to have a look myself, now that I knew where the leak was. I took out the motor and found the problem in the impeller. I posted the request for a replacement on this site and had a replacement by the end of the week, for £20. I fitted it. It works. Thanks guys for running this excellent site.
