Smeg CR305BV Fridge Freezer Fault

Apologies for the repost but I think I posted this in the wrong place.

I was hoping someone could offer some advice.

Our CR305BV has developed a fault. When it reaches the temperature that it should start cooling nothing happens and things start to defrost.

I can get it to start cooling again by turning the power off, leaving it for a while and then turning it back on. However, when it reaches the correct temperature it stops cooling and then we have the same issue when it needs to start cooling again.

If this is a thermostat issue, I am happy to replace this but would like to know if the coil is attached to anything at the end (I have read that this is the case on some units in another post).

Also would this be the best thermostat to use?

The unit is 12 years old so I don’t want to spend too much money on it but if it is a easy fix, I would like to try a few things

That’s not a stat issue I wouldn’t think or, it doesn’t sound like it anyway.

But yeah, that one will be fine on it.
