I am fitting new door hinges, the problem I am having is re-fitting the springs back, as the tension is so strong I cant get enough levage to refit them, can anyone please advise me.

sorry I missed this one.
Look inside near the door seal on each side, about 3/4 way up there should be 2 plastic plugs that fill a hole in the stainless steel that is used for screwing the unit into the housing from the side (very rarley ever used for that purpose.) remove the plugs to leave just the hole. It may help to fit the springs upside down, it wont make any difference to the working of it, as there is a loop in the spring a few centremeters below the hook. SO, insert a long and strong screwdiver through the loop in the spring and then into the exposed hole. Make sure the spring adjusters (if fitted) are backed off to the lowest setting and it may help to tape these in position to stop them moving at the critical time. You should then be able to lever the spring up and into place. Wear work gloves mind and it is not easy but I have done many this way without problem.

well Lawrence, just invest in the proper tool if a bit of chain is not up to your standards 😀

that looks a expensive bit of kit! I usually manage with a length of wire, grips and brute force, I like the bar and chain idea tho 😉

should imagine it is pricy and its what they use in the factory on the production line where health and safey rules apply….unlike us in someones kitchen with a 3 year old child and a dog around your feet while we are sweating and pulling muscles with a metal bar and chains!
