ParticipantThis dishwasher is intermittently not heating. More often than not it doesn’t heat. It will just stick on the heat phase and the dispenser does not open. I have checked the wiring and heater and all O.K. I suspect the module which I sent to QER for repair. I have refitted the module today but it is still not heating. There is no voltage getting to the heater. I am still suspecting the module.
Any ideas??…..Please

False reading from NTC could cause it, but programme would complete.
Board is 816290860, around £90.
Have had several poor experiences with SMEG boards from QER…….

Thanks for that Chris……The plot thickens! customer says today that she put the machine on and checked after 10 – 15 mins – no heat.
She then opened the dispenser manualy and guess what? YEP the machine heated and completed prog, do you think there is any way that the dispenser fault could effect heater/ Or am I completely ga ga? 😳

There is a known issue with dispensers – solenoid breakdown will interfere with programming. As will mains suppressor breakdown…. Dispenser is cheaper than PCB!

Ooooohhhhh dear!
Not the dispenser……….same symptoms, I can only think it MUST be a PCB I may get caught out by wiring fault but think it is unlikely.
Any more thoughts would be most welcome.
Thanks again in eager anticipation?? :rolls:January 31, 2008 at 10:09 pm #240626eastlmark

The odd thing is that the dispenser opening and heating are not really interconnected. If, for example, the heater relay were faulty then the dispenser should still open. Assume you have checked the pressure switch? Also pull a hose of the heater and remove the torpedo, it may be gunged up causing the heater to overheat initially due to lack of water thoughflow. If all else fails then yes, the main pcb must be suspect.
ps. are you sure you are testing it on a wash that opens the flap and heats on the first fill? use the glasses or quick wash as the flap should open within a minute or so of the circ pump starting, heating should then follow. I have assumed your model number is really DD612SCFebruary 12, 2008 at 1:13 pm #240627trotter

Hi trotter
the PCB for the DD612WC is part number 816290888 (same part number if it’s the DD612SC version as mentioned by Mark).
the 816290860 PCB is for the DI612 models. If you’ve got a fair amount of Smeg in your area the PCB might be worth hanging onto; we go through a fair few of them 🙂
