    Hi all,

I was hoping I could draw on the knowledge of this forum to help identify the spare parts required for a possible home repair on my Smeg DF410S which has sprung an E1 error.

The code came up last week and after a few runs wouldnt go away.

Having tilted the machine up I drained the overflow tray, but the error came back after a few minutes.

Since then I have removed the sides and top, and noticed there is a leak on the RHS, which mainly springs up during what I think is the rinse cycle. (ie. the start and end of a program)

Just to prove that it would do a full program I did a temporary repair to the joint shown, using plasticine (which was all I had lying around), which worked well up until last rinse when it sprouted the leak again.

So… I maintenance wash later I can confirm I have either a perished seal, or worse, a split in the larger opaque moulding above.

In both cases I will need a part number and some guidance as to how to replace them would be great!!

Note – the original leak showed up as bubbling at the joint. It was only after I sealed it that it sprouted from the top of my crude plasticine bodge job.

    any advice?

    Thanks, Simon

    Thanks Andy,

There is only 1 o-ring available at the store, which looks like it may cover the job (although it doesnt have any dimensions).

Do you know how easy it will be to unmount the moulded chamber above the o-ring to allow me to fit it? – Sadly I didnt look at how it was mounted last night.

Replace both o rings. Easy enough, unscrew from inside tub, pull towards you and lift out

    Hi again,

So the seals should be turning up today, but I was hoping for a little more help.

Having looked at the internal fixings for the chamber it looks like there is just one plastic nut holding it in place.

Is this just a twist job? (as it seems seriously tight!) or is there a trick to it?

If you use a pair of plumbers grips they may be big enough to get around the large nut or a pair of pliers inside May do it

    Thanks Andy,

I got a pair of sliding pliers, which just worked (after making a few marks in the plastic!

O-rings replaced and all running smoothly again.

There was a great Smeg video on You Tube that helped too.

    Thanks again for the help.
