Had this problem with our Smeg for some months and just stopped using it. Unfortunately my wife wants it fixing now!
There doesn’t appear to be any error codes, the symptoms of the problem are as follows –
    – drains on activation as expected
    – then nothing, it appears to be heating the water as there’s steam.
    – a clunking noise can be heard from the bottom of the machine (sound like the impeller is broken and bits are stuck in there).

I’ve tried to look into this and it appears there could be one of two problems.
1, the impeller has broken and a new pump/impeller is needed.
2, the inlet valve has failed, i sort of doubt this as the waters being heated.

Could anyone offer some advice please?

    Thanks in advance

Checked the impeller which spins very easily and has mo resistance. Powered up and it’s humming, drains and after a while makes a knock thumping sound. Anyone put there able to offer any advice please?

Have you checked that the wash arms are positioned correctly and spin freely?
Please remember that it is the christmas holidays and even us poor engineers have time off too.

    Cheers Dr,
Spray arms I think are ok, we’re now looking for a scrap Smeg for parts for a month or so, or we’ll have extra cupboard space! There’s only really two of us since two of the kids have moved out and the youngest is planning to go.
    Sorry about my strop
