ParticipantHi,
When I turn on the dishwasher, it beeps once and then the led over the power button lights. But thats all it does. No other lights, no error codes, and pressing any buttons has no effect whatsoever. Anybody any ideas? I’ve had a look in the base, no signs of any leakage or electrical failure on sensors etc, but haven’t managed to find any logic board as yet, but am about to see what’s going on in the door.
Any help greatly appreciated, especially clues as to likely diagnosis of power led working but not the others… I’m hoping its not pcb, dishwasher not even 18 months old….
Thanks,
Conrad

PCB failure likely, I’m afraid. Probably worth a word with SMEG – they are one of the more sympathetic manufacturers.

Hi
Dispensor solenoid also gives out some weird and wonderful faults for some god forsaken reason.

Thanks for replies, will look at dispenser solenoid. Was wonderig if the symptoms would fit the door lock sensor not activating properly. I can’t remember what the lights on the panel look like or what buttons do when door is still open..
I’ll give Smeg a ring this morning though, and evaluate their sympathy!

Well, sympathetic they were. Didn’t even have to persuade them. Sending engineer for fixed fee and any parts free, which if its pcb (their over the phone rough diagnosis too) is quite a relief.

Well, that took a while to get to the root of…classic machine working flawlessly when engineer arrived(!)..followed by same fault next day. pcb switched out (new pcb faulty, nasty whining sound!), next visit new pcb, no joy, new door switch, no luck either, both lcd panels switched out, still no go. In the end turned out to be a “flow alternator” or similar. Unfortunately the error code for this doesn’t necessarily appear if its faulty..(!)
Glad I hadn’t tried to tackle this myself in the end, so thanks for the advice on ringing Smeg.
