ParticipantMy 14 month old Smeg Di 612 has stopped working. It runs for approx 10 minutes, then stops giving 4 beeps. When you open the door the light by the wine glass indicator is flashing along with the Large Pan indicator. I think this is error code 2 but not sure. There is no water gathered in the base of the machine, and I have tried running it empty but it has made no difference. Also I have looked for any debris under the metal cover at the bottom of the machine but there isnt any. The article on this forum has suggested that it maybe one of the pipes inside is blocked but I dont know how to get to these pipes. Has anyone any ideas what to do?

Definitely E2 then 😉
Use the forum search for E2 and you’ll find it has been posted several (probably 100’s) of times with varying solutions 🙂

Thanks for the info Dave.
I see you have posted a sticky with some useful info in.
I had a look for the transfer tube but could not locate it. I removed the 5 screws under the mesh at the base of the machine but couldnt see any pipes, just a solid white plastic piece with a little water gathered. Am i looking in the wrong place? Will i need to remove the machine from its housing.
Cheers
Andy

hi had the same problem found an easy fix this may work for you ? takes 2 mins try turning the water inlet tap (this tap is the tap you turn off to stop water going into your machine) so that the water enters the machine at a slower rate this worked for me but i found this out the hard way after stripping the side off the machine and watching water go through a sophisticated fill loop(looked like a printed circuit but is white and fills with water one hell of a level switch!) seems this is a timed fill and if the water enters too fast it trips on overfill hope this helps you 😀

Short term solution, Myke. The transfer pipe between the fill matrix (“hell of a level switch” 😀 ) and the sump (where the filters fit) need cleaning out, as the water is backing up behind the sludge.
Detailed info is here:

….besides which Myke if your machine is filling too quickly (which can cause problems with the timed ‘top-up’) then there is an adjustment to be made on the circuit board to reduce the length of time for the top-up :lesson:
