ParticipantSMEG dishwasher DWI 409C been broken for a couple of weeks now. Been through all the very useful notes on this site including http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … ge&pid=316
The error code displayed is E1 – anti flood warning, however, removing the machine shows no water in the lower tray, have taken out the polystrene float, pushed the anti-flood button in and its correctly drawing water out of the dishwasher, so not the anti-flood switch or a blockage.
Performed the system reset a few times, after which the machine runs the rinse cycle, moves onto the 2nd delicate cycle, opens the soap dispenser, then seems to get stuck on the 2nd cycle, constantly activating the soap dispenser solenoid. Removed the soap dispenser solenoid, and tested it – all working ok.
The machine seems to fail on these 2 scenarios constantly. So then I moved onto the PCB, removed and no signs of burnt components though.
Is there anyway of testing the main suppressor is functioning correctly ? (the machine is drawing water into the dishwasher) or does this sound like a PCB issue ?
Machine is 2 years old.
Many thanks,
Garry

It *probably* all comes back to the dispenser – if you start from the beginning with it disconnected, does it behave?
The mains suppressor is usually visibly damaged – the one in the link has split its end cap open; very often the end is blown clean off!
Remove right hand side panel for a good sight of it.

Disconnected the 2 wires (white and blue) connecting to the dispenser solenoid – the dishwasher is not starting at all now – program lights up but does not progress at all. Did I disconnect the wrong component ?
Removed the right panel, no blown components there.

Now you start to see what we’re up against, every day, and why the article was posted.
You need a dispenser, definitely. P/no 812890063, about £40 last time I checked – spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will get you one promptly enough.
What else you may need I can’t honestly advise you.

Just put the new soap dispenser in, and getting the same, i.e.
Performed the system reset a few times, after which the machine runs the rinse cycle, moves onto the 2nd delicate cycle, opens the soap dispenser, then seems to get stuck on the 2nd cycle, constantly activating the soap dispenser solenoid.
Noticed that water is flowing into the dishwasher, as can now see with the righthand panel removed. Left the machine running for 15 mins with the dispenser activating, opened the door and it had a fair amount of water (which was cold).
Any advice on the next step(s) please ?

Oh dear. The dispenser is activated twice in the cycle, once for the flap, the second time for the rinse aid. They both use the same circuit from the computer, so it looks rather like that will be the culprit – some sort of corruption issue with the logic side of things.

Hi,
Stripped the machine down (to the best of my abilities) on Sunday, no blocked up pipes – all wires and connectors look fine (cleaned all connectors on refitting).
Mains suppressor shows no sign of damage or fault – any way to test in isolation though ?
But, feeling more this is a pcb fault (no burnt or cracked tracks though – but will get the magnifying glass out).
