Participanthi all
we have quite a SMEG dishwasher that must be 8 years old (but was newly installed when we moved in to this house) which has been playing up on occassion over the past year but has yesterday decided to not click through the cycle it is supposed to… it works on an old school twist type timer and seems to be confused…
does anyone know how i can reset the machine so it hopefully gets back running normally again?
its a SMEG
Type: 11028
Mod. DWD 61 WH
any ideas?

The timer stops for the heat process and will not restart until temperature is reached – is it heating the water?

it doesn’t seem to be doing anything.. its making noise like its doing something but when you open it nothing seems to have happened at all… so, no i dont think it is heating water…
can i reset it somehow?

KeymasterIf memory serves me and, I’m delving deep here, those machines occasionally need the timer reset to the 12 o’clock position when they stall. I’d need to look at the parts and schematic stuff tomorrow to be sure, but I think it’s one of them.
However, even at that there’s usually a reason for it to happen in the first place, a favouorite was a blocked drain, or an airlock in the drain that caused it to bork. So, if it’s been in a while and working there’s likely a reason for it to happen and it may well not be obvious.

It could well be the water level control playing up – “E2” on the digital machines. Have a read of this – might solve the problem:
