ParticipantHi, anyone familiar with Smeg? I’ve never worked on one before.
The customer tells me it takes about 3 hours to complete a program, doesn’t always drain, only on certain programs. Has anyone got info on this machine? I’m going to have a look next Wednesday.
Much obliged for any help.

Probably just blocked, the pump is right at the front under the door and can be accessed without even pulling the machine out. Usually get error codes or flashing lights to indicate problem. See the error codes thread here.

E8- This alarm is generated when, at the programme start, the timer card does not detect the signal coming from the alternate valve positioning.
this defect can be caused by :
-faulty alternate valve
-electric connections not properly carried out
-defective electronic cardHTH

Might just be needing a reset though. Do a search for “Smeg AND reset” or “Diplomat and reset” if you need information on how to do this; it’s been posted many times before.

Hi, I’ve had a look at this dishwasher, Tested the dispenser coil and that is ok, tried reseting it without success. whatever program you set it on it will start for about a min or so then it will cut out the display goes off too only for a few seconds then comes back into life for a further few seconds and goes off again. And this is how it goes. I’ve done what P45 has suggested without success. The PCB looks ok too.
HELP! Many thanks.
