Smeg dishwasher (unidentified) error E8

Calling all you “Smeg’eds” out there …

I have an unidentified Smeg dishwasher with an E8 error – customer has lost the instructions and the label has been scotch-brited.

I believe E8 to be the changeover valve at fault, although applying power to it manually will make it spin round OK, so maybe the fault lies elsewhere?

Q1 – Please can someone identify the machine for me?

Q2 – What may be causing the E8?
